The Design Process

Pictured is the 3D rendering of our cement boat. As a team, we collaborated on choosing specific aspects we wanted to see in our boat. For starters, we knew what dimensions our boat had to be which gave us basic parameters to work with. Then we started researching which boat styles work best and came to the conclusion that that we didn't want a flat bottom, we couldn't make the walls too thick, we wanted an asymmetric side view, and we wanted an eye-shape top view.

With this in mind, we started with multiple rough sketches until we settled on a final drawing. From there we were able to use our CAD knowledge to render our ideas into a physical model that we would later have 3D printed.
