With our boats now completed, it was time to test that they could float and see how much water they could hold. Unfortunately, even after patching the hole in The Karen, water was still leaking into the hull. So, even though she held 400 mL of water, we knew she would not be suitable to compete. The Caroline, however, held 450 mL of water with ease and we started fitting her for the propellor. With team members Xander's propellor and Shynu's expertise, we could solder the wires in place and waterproof the mechanisms, making it possible to the have our form of propulsion fully emerged in the water. After making a few adjustments we found that The Caroline was able to make it the full distance of the tub while moving in a straight line! With her sailing perfectly in our test runs, team member Madison took her home to decorate and she came out looking ready to take on the competition. She performed wonderfully during the race and Group 4 is proud of The Caroline's overall performance!
